1. Provider and scope
Inkside is provided by Luka Löhr, Weberstraße 8, 76133 Karlsruhe, Germany, email: luka@lukaloehr.com ("we"). These terms apply to all contracts between us and you about the use of the Inkside web app. Other terms do not apply.
2. The service
Inkside turns typed text into a handwriting that you drew yourself or picked from the Font Library, and exports the result as a Goodnotes file or PDF. The scope follows from the description on the website and your plan.
Free costs nothing and has usage limits (e.g. exports per day, pages per export). Pro removes most of these limits and unlocks extra features. Current limits are listed on the pricing page.
"Photo to ink" reads the handwriting on a photo automatically (with the help of OpenAI, see privacy policy section 6a) and puts the text into the editor or into a file. Automatic recognition can make mistakes; please check the result. Images without handwriting or with prohibited content are refused. The number of photos per day is shown on the pricing page.
Inkside is also available as an app in ChatGPT. There, these terms apply to Inkside's services; OpenAI's terms apply to ChatGPT itself. Files from the ChatGPT app can be downloaded through a private link for 24 hours and are deleted afterwards. You can connect your Inkside account to ChatGPT to use your handwritings and your plan's limits, and disconnect it at any time under Account → Connected apps.
We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, for example during maintenance, outages at our providers or force majeure. We keep developing Inkside and may change features as long as the essential scope of a paid plan is preserved.
3. Account
Some features need an account, which you create with your email address. Keep access to your inbox secure; an account is meant for one person. You can delete your account at any time.
Inkside is intended for users aged 16 and over. If you are younger, you may only use Inkside with the consent of your parents (or other legal guardians). If you are a minor (under 18), you may only buy a paid subscription or the Exam Week Pass with your parents' consent.
4. Pro subscription and Exam Week Pass
Pro is a subscription billed weekly, monthly or yearly. All prices shown are final prices; no further costs are added. The contract is concluded when you click the order button at checkout and the payment via Stripe succeeds.
The subscription renews automatically for the chosen period unless you cancel before it ends. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current period, without giving reasons, via "Manage subscription" or the cancel button in your account, or by email. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
The Exam Week Pass is a one-time payment for 7 days of Pro. It does not renew and ends automatically.
We do not change the price of a running subscription unilaterally. A price change only applies to your subscription if you expressly agree to it, and at the earliest from the next period; we ask you beforehand in text form (e.g. by email to your account address). Silence never counts as agreement. If you don't agree, your subscription continues at the previous price; either side may then cancel it effective at the end of the current period.
If you delete your account, we cancel running subscriptions immediately; Pro then ends at once, including a running Exam Week Pass. Time already paid for but not yet used is not refunded pro rata. Your right of withdrawal (section 5) is unaffected.
5. Right of withdrawal for consumers
Withdrawal policy
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day the contract is concluded. To exercise it, you must inform us (Luka Löhr, Weberstraße 8, 76133 Karlsruhe, email: luka@lukaloehr.com) of your decision to withdraw by a clear statement (e.g. an email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the deadline, it is sufficient to send your notice before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal: If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and at the latest within fourteen days from the day we receive your notice. We will use the same means of payment you used for the original transaction unless expressly agreed otherwise; you will not incur any fees as a result. If you requested that the service begins during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount proportionate to what has been provided until you informed us of your withdrawal, compared with the full coverage of the contract.
Immediate start: Pro is unlocked right after purchase. At checkout you expressly ask us to begin the service before the withdrawal period ends. For the Exam Week Pass you also confirm that you know your right of withdrawal expires once the service has been fully performed, i.e. after the 7 days (§ 356(4) BGB).

7. Fair use
"Unlimited" in Pro means normal personal use. To prevent abuse, a technical cap applies (currently 200 exports per day). In particular, you may not:
- forge signatures, certificates or other documents, or deceive anyone in legal dealings,
- use it for exams or schoolwork that explicitly must be handwritten,
- recreate or share another person's handwriting without their permission,
- create unlawful, offensive or infringing content,
- pass photos to "Photo to ink" that you have no rights to or that contain other people's data you may not share,
- access the service automatically (scraping, bots), circumvent limits or attack our systems,
- resell Inkside or the Library fonts as your own fonts.
If you break these rules we may remove content and suspend your account, for serious violations without prior warning.
8. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Otherwise liability is excluded.
Please keep your own copies of important files. For data loss we are only liable to the extent that would have occurred had you backed up your data in the usual way.
9. Term and termination
You can stop using Free at any time by deleting your account (Account → "Your data"). Section 4 applies to Pro. If you delete your account while Pro is running, the last paragraph of section 4 applies. The right of either party to terminate for good cause remains unaffected.
10. Changes to these terms
We only change these terms for the future and only for an objective reason, such as a change in the law or case law, new features or changed technical conditions. We tell you about a planned change beforehand in text form (e.g. by email to your account address) and explain what changes.
A change only applies to your existing contract if you expressly agree to it. Silence or simply continuing to use Inkside never counts as agreement. If you don't agree, the previous terms continue to apply to you; either side may then terminate the contract with ordinary notice (Free at any time by deleting your account, Pro effective at the end of the current period). We never change essential contract terms such as the price, the term or the essential scope of a paid plan without your express agreement.
11. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected.
We do not take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If any provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remains valid.
